Netaji Subhas Training Institute of Agricultural Marketing (NSTIAM) is a training Institute under the control and supervision of West Bengal State Agricultural Marketing Board (WBSAMB) and is situated at Baidyabati, Hooghly.
This is the only Training Institute on Agricultural Marketing, affiliated by NIAM,Jaipur, in the whole Eastern Region of India. The Institute has trained around 3360 numbers of trainees so far, among which,1235 number of Farmers / members of Farm Families have been trained in last three Financial Years. Two kinds of training programmes are organized by this Institute.
Funded by Central Government:
The training programmes under this head are funded by National Institute Agricultural Marketing (NIAM), jaipur, an Institute under Govt. of India. As desired by National Institute Agricultural Marketing (NIAM),NSTIAM sends training proposal to them for the training courses to be conducted in one financial year. On and average 300-450 people are
undergoing training each year. 40-50% of the trainees are mainly staff of WBSAMB, Market Committees, Officers from Department and Directorate of Agril. Marketing undergo 3 days residential courses.a)Computer and Office Management.b) Different topics related to Agricultural Marketing.c) Different topics related to Infrastructural development under the Dept.
Funded by State Government:
This has been introduced in 2012. The Institute undertakes fully residential skill development training programmes exclusively for the young members of the small and Marginal Farm Families, representatives from FPCs,FPOs or FIGs formed by Govt. of West Bengal or Self-help Gosthies registered with Govt. of West Bengal with special thrust upon the SC and ST communities of different Districts of West Bengal for ensuring them better livelihood opportunities by means of imparting training in a planned manner for
boosting their employability by way of making a techno-economically viable rural based agro-farming with special emphasis on organic principles and related food processing for relating ecological balance to make the weaker section of the people for its adoption as a means of either direct employment or involvement for monetarily rewarding through entrepreneurship development. Some of the trainings are of 90 days where as some are of 14 days, depending on the type of the trainees. In the financial year 2015-16, the Institute has trained 702 number of trainees through 37 number of trainings.
